🎧 Recording Tips

📌 Does player volume affect recording?
Yes — the recording volume depends on the player’s volume (e.g., Spotify).
➡️ Keep the player volume at a normal or Max level for best results.

📌 Can I mute my computer and still record?
Yes — you can mute your system speakers or lower your system volume.
✅ As long as the music player itself is not muted, recording will still work correctly.

How to Filter Audio Ads

When recording Spotify using a free account, you’ll hear annoying audio ads between songs. Cinch records them too, but you can simply click the “Filter” button to remove all short audio ads in one click.

How to Make Ringtone

You can create a ringtone or alarm tone for your phone from any recorded song.
Just browse to the track you want to use, then right-click on the song and select “Make Ringtone for Phone.”

Choose M4A as the output format for the best audio quality and full compatibility with your iPhone.
If you’re using an Android phone, MP3 or AAC will work perfectly fine.

Step 3: Edit Audio for Ringtone Creation

Now comes the fun part – picking the best 15-30 seconds of your song. Most ringtones work best when they’re around 20-25 seconds long. Too short and people miss calls, too long and it gets annoying.

Here’s my strategy: go for the chorus or the most recognizable part of the song. Avoid long intros or instrumental sections – you want something that immediately screams “this is my phone!”

Cinch Audio Recorder has built-in editing tools that let you:

  • Trim the start and end points precisely

Quick tip: Test the volume on your actual device. What sounds good on your computer speakers might be too quiet for a ringtone.

Step 4: Convert to Ringtone Format

Just select “Export” to save your ringtone.

To find your ringtone file:

  1. Right-click on the recorded song and choose “Open File Location.” This will take you to the folder where all your recorded songs are stored.

  2. Go up one level to the parent folder — you’ll see a folder named “Ring.”

  3. Open the “Ring” folder, and you’ll find your ringtone file inside.

FAQs:

Is Cinch Audio Recorder safe to use with Spotify or other streaming music services?

Yes, our software is safe to use.

We do not use the Spotify API or any method that speeds up playback to shorten recording time (also known as “fast playing”). These types of methods can sometimes be detected by Spotify and may lead to account restrictions or bans.

Our recording technology works more like placing a microphone near your speakers — it captures audio in real time, just like normal listening. This means there’s no direct interaction with Spotify’s system, making the process virtually undetectable.

Why was my Spotify account suspended?

There could be several reasons your Spotify account was banned or suspended — and they’re not necessarily related to our software. For a detailed explanation, you can refer to this article:

Do I need to install VB-CABLE to record music on my computer?
No, you don’t need to install VB-CABLE. Our latest recording technology is already powerful enough to capture audio without it.

What if the Record button is on but no music is being recorded?
Please try running Cinch as Administrator — that often resolves the issue.

Does it support Windows 7?
The Pro version may not work on some Windows 7 systems due to compatibility issues. As Windows 7 has reached its end of life, we’re focusing on optimizing for Windows 10 and 11. We appreciate your understanding as our small team works to support as many platforms as possible.

Q: Does it matter what volume the player (e.g., Spotify) is set to?
Yes, the recording volume depends on the volume level of the player (e.g., Spotify). We recommend keeping it at a normal or high level for best results.

Q: Can it be muted and still record successfully?
Yes, you can mute your computer’s speakers or system sound output — as long as the player itself (e.g., Spotify) is not muted, the recording will work fine.
